ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Is responsible for the delivery of evidenced based and family centered patient care to age birth to 18 years of age in the pediatric setting utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). This may include caring for children involving respiratory, cardiovascular, neurologic, hematologic/oncologic, endocrine/metabolic, gastrointestinal, renal, and other illnesses and diseases. Is responsible for functioning as a clinical resource assisting in identifying appropriate required human resources related to assignments according to current census and acuity. Is expected to be engaged in participating in the overall operations of the unit by identifying opportunities for improvements and providing feedback on the quality of care and services provided. Participation in quality improvement initiatives is required. Is capable of making independent decisions, and reports pertinent information to the attending physician, charge nurse, nurse manager, house supervisor, following and respecting chains of command.
