Position Summary: Interprets and implements quality assurance standards pertinent to the delivery of cardiovascular services. Serves as a management resource to Cardiovascular Service Line department directors to work directly with staff to drive quality and performance improvement. Performs accurate and timely cardiovascular quality analysis, data validation, and submits to ACC & STS. Provides guidance and recommendations for internal process development in support of departmental and interdepartmental methodologies. Trains new users. Provides for database security, software upgrades and maintenance. Essential Functions: Performs accurate & timely cardiovascular quality data analysis for submission to ACC and STS. Performs drill down and quality analysis of ACC and STS data on a quarterly or more frequent basis. Selects appropriate resources to meet goals related to submission to ACC and STS. Interacts directly with physicians individually or collectively to address interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery quality improvement, make recommendations, and monitor progress. Develops educational programs and trains others related to software and abstraction. Serves as an education resource to the organization to assist the cardiovascular service line departments with meeting current and emerging staff development needs related to quality issues. Makes recommendations regarding documentation requirements in accordance with certification standards and regulatory requirements. Participates in Performance Improvement teams as requested, as team member or as facilitator/leader. Participates in committees and activities as needed to maintain an awareness of issues related to quality of cardiovascular patient care and registry data management (ACC, STS). Notifies appropriate persons of data requirements and provides related education as needed. Rounds in departments to communicate with staff to identify cardiovascular quality issues, education opportunities, abstraction issues, and assess the effectiveness of implemented performance/quality improvement initiatives Provides statistical data and reports as requested. Identifies and incorporates configurations and standard software customizations. Prioritizes configuration requests with the client and team to facilitate the requirements definition and iterative build/review process. Leads solution review and feedback sessions with department directors and other stakeholders. Consults with software vendors to prioritize and recommend alternative courses of actions where applicable. Provides ongoing feedback on processes and methodology to provide process improvement to managers, administration and IT staff. Provides expert assistance with software, technology, workflow and clinical areas involved.
