Description
Standard Qualifications: This is 8 hour shifts, 3 days one week and 2 days the next week. This position also involves 24 hours of Call every other month. Must smile and make eye contact. The Pre-op RN delivers perioperative care to the surgical patient, across the lifespan, using the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The perioperative nurse is responsible for promoting the health, welfare, and safety of the patient while implementing and maintaining standards of perioperative nursing practice as well as meeting the established policies/standards of practice for this facility. Responsible for patient/family teaching and evaluation of patient/family understanding of perioperative experience and ongoing care. Maintains cost-effectiveness and uses analytical, decision-making skills. Participates in Performance Improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement. Maintains cultural and diversity awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and all other customers. Promotes a supportive, teamwork-oriented environment. Fulfills departmental responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of CMC.
