Standard Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) - Instructor - Masters - Research College of Nursing Research College of Nursing Position Description Clinical Adjunct Faculty (CAF) Clinical Adjunct Faculty 1. Clinical adjunct faculty are employed by a clinical agency and their work schedule is arranged to provide time for clinical teaching. 2. Qualifications of the Clinical Adjunct Faculty (CAF) - according to the guidelines for the Kansas City Workforce Partners Project (August 2004) a. Registered nurse with a minimum of a baccalaureate degree in nursing, and must be enrolled in a graduate program if not already masters prepared. b. Recommended and approved for this role by nurse manager c. Clinical competence in the area in which she/he is teaching d. Beginning skill in teaching and evaluating students Responsibilities of Clinical Faculty (CAF) The Coordinator of Clinical and Faculty Resources (CCFR) / or Associate Dean will assign the CAF to a course and will provide ongoing supervision and guidance. The CAF is responsible to the course coordinator and the CCFR for communication regarding student progress, evaluation of student performance and ongoing relationship with the clinical agency. The CAF will be responsible for a group of students while being supervised by CCFR. The CAF will collaborate with the CCFR regarding 1. Orienting students to the clinical setting 2. Making student clinical assignments consistent with student's level of knowledge and ability 3. Supervising students in providing direct patient/client care consistent with student's level of knowledge and ability 4. Providing instruction and guidance for students in preparing written clinical assignments 5. Offering feedback to students on their performance 6. Evaluating student performance in collaboration with more experienced faculty 7. Serving as a liason between faculty, students and clinical agency
