JOB SUMMARY Responsible for the clinical operations and planning for the Oncology inpatient unit, the Oncology Manager is a registered professional nurse who participates as an active administrative member of the nursing leadership team. With 24-hour responsibility, the Oncology Manager assumes direction over coordinating safe, efficient, and therapeutically effective nursing care for the oncology patient population. The Oncology nursing Manager collaborates with the physicians, palliative care providers, and other interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute a high standard of care that includes care of the oncology patient and family which includes a focus on patient safety, patient experience, and expected clinical outcomes. The Oncology nursing Manager supports unit staff and charge nurses to develop and grow their clinical and leadership abilities, and promotes a highly engaged workforce. The Oncology nursing Manager analyzes quality improvement data, developing, implementing, and monitoring improvement plans in regard to clinical care, operational processes, and other topics of concern for the Oncology Unit. The Oncology nursing Manager collaborates with other nursing and non-nursing leaders to improve care and processes across the organization. The Oncology nursing Manager maintains current competency with oncology and other general nursing skills and demonstrates knowledge regarding Oncology and general medical surgical standards of care and standards of practice. In addition, the Oncology nursing Manager grows and expands his or knowledge in Oncology nursing and leadership. The Oncology nursing Manager maintains professional and effective working relationships with all members of the Health Care Team. Demonstrates knowledge of Principles of Growth & Development over Life Span, and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of patient status, and to interpret the data appropriately to identify patient requirements specific to the patient's age. The Oncology nursing Manager remains calm in crisis and emergency situations, and directs staff members effectively and appropriately. #LI-FW
