The role of the Social Worker is to provide consultation services to patients, families and staff. This position emphasizes advanced casework, counseling and consultation in working with multi-problem patients and their families to provide maximum adjustment and with staff in meeting psychological needs. The Social Worker Position focuses on utilization review and interacts with insurance providers to confirm coverage, negotiate appeals for coverage, communicate coverage to all members of interdisciplinary team, complete Medicare and Medicaid paperwork as per timelines and provides training/education to interdisciplinary team regarding documentation necessary for justification of coverage.
