Performs all procedures clinically as needed and on a routine basis. Participates in appraisal process with Departmental Leadership. Assures thorough and complete orientation of all new employees is completed during the orientation process, working with the OR educator. Utilizes quality improvement as basis to improve departmental process. Actively participates in departmental and facility PI programs and initiatives. Maintains statistical reports (PLUS and Kronos). Pursues professional development to prepare for additional responsibilities and improve current job performance by participating in educational meetings, independent study and maintaining appropriate certifications. Maintains unit readiness for regulatory surveys. Ensures the department meets standards as set by the AORN, JCAHO, and other healthcare regulatory agencies. Utilizes appropriate communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, physicians, staff and management.
