Standard Qualifications: We are looking for a Throughput Coordinator Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Central Resource Pool staff at Johnston-Willis Hospital. Our 292-bed hospital offers a full range of healthcare services, with specialties in cancer care through the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute, inpatient rehabilitation, our state-authorized level III trauma center emergency department, and neuroscience, including our first-in-Richmond Gamma Knife Center. The Throughput Coordinator Registered Nurse (RN) performs care under the direction of the unit Nursing Leadership Team and the Director, and is responsible for the following: Coordinates and facilitates the expedient appropriated placement of patients. Has daily oversight of the throughput of patients from admission to discharge. Makes bed assignments based on existing workloads on units, impact on nurse/patient ratios and required scopes of care. Secures information of bed status on a unit-to-unit basis, including potential discharges, through walking rounds. Coordinates the discharge of patients (impacting a decline in loss and creating beds) with case management, discharge planning, and available assessment staff. Performs admissions, transfers, and discharges to facilitate patient throughput. Communicates effectively and professionally with customers and presents self in a professional manner. Communicates routinely, and as requested, with management and leadership staff. Communicates admission information as required. Promotes and supports the goals and objectives of the organization. Facilitates processing of deceased patients for daily morgue check. Serves as backup for the Nursing Supervisor as needed.
