Standard Qualifications: DESCRIPTION: Responsible for contributing to the maintenance of a safe and therapeutic milieu through prompt reporting of observed behavior, milieu processes and other pertinent information. He/she will work closely with all health care providers to facilitate and coordinate efficient, effective, quality health care. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the appropriate life span; possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs; and, have the ability to provide care needed by the pertinent patient group(s). He/she will implement and/or comply with all the policies, procedures and standards of the unit, department and the institution. SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS* Through direct care, observation, and communication with the patient. collects and documents patient admission and shift behavioral and physical clinical data and observations Provides appropriate information to assist RN with admission and shift RN assessments.* Performs vital signs, BP's and accuchecks. Reports abnormalities in vital signs (per protocol) to Registered Nurse. Provides or assists patients with Activities of Daily Living. Assists with treatments or procedures within documented level of competancy. Preforms groups with patient population.* Provides behavioral health care interventions utilizing the least restrictive interventions.* Provides for the safety of patients, visitors and staff. Completes routine and special safety checks.* Assumes responsibility for completing all mandatory educational, PPD, CPR and CPI requirements within designated time frame and for providing written verification of same for filing.* Actively participates in quality management activities by timely reporting of staff, family, visitor or quality concerns.* Reports to work as pre-scheduled and on time.* Demonstrates knowledge of, and follows policy/procedure, for all hospital patient safety initiatives.* Act as sitters for behavioral health patients and have flexibility to assist on other floors with sitting for behavioral health patients to the scope of employees job description/practice.* Completes all tasks associated with admissions/paperwork/duties. Goes through patient belongings in a timely fashion.* Works collaboratively as part of a team.* Reports to the charge nurse during the assigned shift.*
