Higher job satisfaction among nurses.  Lower nurse reports of intentions to leave their positions.  House supervisors must be resourceful and be able to work under pressure; they must be very organized. House supervisors must have strong communication skills and be able to delegate tasks effectively. They must be strong decision makers and be able to keep patient confidentiality. As with all nurses, this position requires workers to be polite and empathetic toward patients. A house supervisor must be able to provide leadership and direction throughout the hospital during his/her shift. A house supervisor must function as the administrative representative after hours and on weekends and supervises department personnel throughout the hospital. House supervisors are responsible for contacting appropriate "on call" administrative staff when indicated. House supervisors will maintain a safe department work environment.
