Job Description This is a dual role position, in that the person in this role will be a C.N.A. and a unit secretary. Acts as the primary secretarial resource for the charge nurse, and nursing staff of the Obstetrics department. Assist in ordering supplies and other assigned duties as delegated by the Director or charge nurse. Directs communication within the nursing unit. Assist in entering patient information in the Meditech. Makes entries into the Unit log book and maintains the log keeping it up to date. In the role as a C.N.A this person will assist the RN in the unit with patient care. Job Responsibilities Include but are not limited to: Essential Duties: This position requires knowledge of Medical Terminology and familiarity with medical technology as it relates to nursing. The ability to retrieve data from the hospital's information system is required along with the ability to communicate information in a written and auditory fashion. Written, telephone and manual dexterity skills are required for this position. The Nursing Assistant is responsible for patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or a Licensed Practical Nurse. The position requires knowledge of both department and hospital policies and procedures relevant to the delivery of nursing care. The primary method to express or exchange ideas is through the spoken word. Written, telephone and manual dexterity skills are required for the position. Position Requirements : Education: High School Graduate or equivalent. Graduate of a Certified Nurse Assistant Training program. Graduate of an accredited unit secretary training program preferred. Experience: Secretarial experience in a hospital setting preferred. Minimum 1 year C.N.A. experience required. Current State of Florida Nurse Assistant Certification. Current American Heart Association BLS certification. Physical Requirements: The employee must possess physical capabilities at least in an amount equal to the physical demands made by the job: Medium work: Lifting 50 lbs. maximum and with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects and instruments in the performance of this job. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling in the performance of this job. Reaching, handling, fingering, and feeling of objects and instruments in the performance of this job. Talking and hearing in the performance of this job. Obtaining impressions through the eyes of the shape, size, distance, motion, color or other characteristics of objects.
