R. Scrub Technician, Level I/Obstetrics during surgical and other invasive procedures through the performance of specific duties under the direction of a registered nurse. Performs routine scrub as well as specifically-delegated duties according to AORN standards, and policies and procedures of the department of surgery. Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment for all. Keeps current with operating room techniques, procedures, instruments, supplies and equipment; assists with Continuing Quality Improvement. The O. R. Scrub Technician, Obstetrics is responsible for the direct and indirect nursing care of patients as determined by the registered nurse. He/She is also responsible for the supervision of assigned personnel. The position requires thorough knowledge of both department and hospital policies and procedures relevant to the delivery of nursing care. Interpretive skills, frequent interactive and consultative associations, along with managerial and supervisory tasks are inherent in the position. The ability to retrieve, communicate or otherwise present information in a written, auditory or visual fashion is essential. The primary method to express or exchange ideas is through the spoken word. Writing, telephone and manual dexterity skills are required for the position.
