JOB SUMMARY: A registered radiologic technologist performs a variety of high quality diagnostic imaging procedures under the direction of a board-certified radiologist. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1.Selects and operates imaging equipment, using proper exam specific technical factors on an individual patient basis and correctly selects and processes CR cassettes as needed (using film markers correctly and consistently). 2.Transfers and properly positions patients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications. Provides immobilization as required and protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards. 3.Assist physicians in performance of examinations by mixing and pouring contrast media, administering contrast media, setting up of sterile trays and assisting in sterile procedures, holding and turning patients, and other related duties as required. 4.Considers age and physical status of patients to plan and deliver patient care. 5.Demonstrates customer service principles and behaviors appropriately. 6.Actively seeks ways to control costs and improve quality of care (without compromising patient safety). 7.Performs a variety of clerical tasks to include: retrieving old studies, imputing/editing exams, and completing of requisition prior to verifying images to be read. 8.Physical ability to stand for long periods of time, walk, push, pull, lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, reach, crouch, manipulate with finger, grasp, and feel. 9.Must have the ability to express ideas by means of the spoken word (in English) to others accurately, loudly, and/or quickly. 10.Ability to read English and have the visual acuity to analyze data and figures to include items seen on computer terminals and written pages. 11.Participates in meetings and committees as necessary; attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements. 12.Regular, punctual, and dependable attendance. 13.Demonstrates organizational ability and sound judgment. 14. Other duties as assigned.
