We are recruiting a Field Director, Compliance, Hospital Division to join our Compliance Department . This is a home-based position that can be located anywhere in the continental U.S. A potential candidate will need easy access to a major airport. Travel: 50% of the time. Summary: Provides evaluation, education and consultation utilizing JCAHO standards, CMS Regulations, licensing requirements, Kindred policies and protocols, and Kindred's Compliance Program. Assesses and reports a hospital's degree of compliance with applicable requirements, and provides consultation and training on related topics. Participates in other activities as assigned by the Senior Director of Compliance. Essential Functions: Conducts thorough Case Management audits and ad hoc quality reviews at the request of operations or compliance. Knowledge of ICD-10 and DRG Coding (preferably in the LTAC arena). Coordinates facility visits for audits and/or investigations and acts as team leader when assigned. Reviews all pre-visit information and identifies specific priority focus processes for survey. Utilizes the Patient Tracer Methodology to assess and evaluate a hospital's compliance with standards and requirements and systems of providing care and services. Reviews and analyzes documents such as policies and procedures, meeting minutes, committee reports, Governing Board meeting minutes, Quality Council meeting minutes, etc. to assess compliance to JCAHO standards, Kindred policies and other licensing agency requirements. Provides "on the spot" consultation and training related to findings. Conducts daily briefings and closing conference with the leadership team. Completes accurate, organized written reports of observations and findings in a timely manner. Assists in aggregating and analyzing findings by region and by HD. Reviews and revises tools and processes as needed (reviews at least annually). Provides consultative services and serves as an expert resource for division, region and facility leadership in the areas of quality and regulations. Assists HD in identifying the need for policy and procedure revisions. Conducts Regional and/or Divisional meeting presentations and education on various subjects including summary of Case Management audit findings, quality improvement and regulatory topics. Knowledgeable of and utilizes adult principles of learning. Maintains current knowledge of Interqual Criteria, JCAHO accreditation standards, regulatory and licensing requirements, quality improvement methods and HD policies and protocols. Monitors Hotline quality issues for division and if indicated, provides guidance to facility and regional leadership to ensure thorough investigation and correct action. Conducts Compliance investigations when requested. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge and experience in healthcare operations, clinical practice and use of quality improvement methods. Excellent communication skills. Customer service focus, responsive to verbal and nonverbal communication cues. Independent decision-making skills; can effectively manage the review process as a team leader and team member, and can conduct the screening process independently. Must have general computer skills, including word processing and email applications and the ability to learn various spreadsheet applications for tracking and reporting. Approximate percent of time required to travel: 50% #MON-CORP Qualifications: Education: Health Care Professional with four-year degree in a related field. Prefer Master level degree or other healthcare related field. Licenses/Certification: Active RN Licensure Experience: 5 years of recent experience in the health care field, including assessment, care planning, quality assurance and quality improvement systems. Experience with Interqual, PPS, DRG and related utilization, billing and reimbursement processes. Depending on a candidate's qualifications, this position may be filled at a different level.
