The Director of Business Development (DBD) is responsible for the development and implementation of business and marketing plans for the rehabilitation hospital, as well as all volume initiatives. DBD will establish strategic marketing plans in collaboration with senior leadership to achieve the facility's objectives. This position designs and maintains a system for strong relationships with Physicians, Managed Care Providers, Medicare, Case Managers, other payors, and appropriate hospital personnel to accomplish the development and maintenance of a strong and successful patient referral network, and beneficial reimbursement arrangements. The Director of Business Development is responsible for the overall management of the Marketing and Admission Teams.   Responsibilities:   Possess knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements as related to IRF level of care. Participate and maintain hospital compliance as related to state, federal, Joint Commission, CMS, and DOH standards.  Communicate and coordinate all aspects of admissions and discharges.  Maintain professional rapport with the private rehabilitation sector, commercial insurance companies, lawyers, community organizations, rehabilitation nurses, accident and health carriers, HMO's, worker's compensation carriers, and self-insured employers.  Assure timely and responsive communications between referral sources and IRF. Be responsive.  Identify marketing, admission, and discharge issues and expeditiously resolve.  Maintain and utilize ongoing market analysis: SWOT .  Maintain and continually seek knowledge of healthcare reform initiatives and post-acute care strategies.  Research, formulate, and develop facility-specific business and marketing plans, both annually and quarterly.   Direct and supervise market planning/strategy/development and related budget.  Develop and monitor marketing contacts strategy.  Establish regional inpatient and outpatient marketing strategies, as appropriate.  Educate, train and empower Liaisons relative to marketing strategies and patient/family education for program features and benefits.  Serve as a resource to the network/system for marketing and admissions-related issues.  Participates with marketing key customer accounts and with business development in the community.  Identify new potential company market opportunities and assist in their development.  Analyze and utilize historic and current market data/trends for network success.  Provide insurance benefit education and clarification, as needed.  Oversee development of collateral material and marketing items necessary for promoting programs and services.  Supervise and audit marketing/clinical liaison activities.  Motivate team members.  Manage the daily functions and staff of the Admission office.  Demonstrate ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task.  Consistently performs job duties in an independent manner with minimal direct supervision required.  Maintain updated and timely electronic statistical data.  Actively identify and pursue training, education, and developmental activities to enhance experience, knowledge and performance.  Demonstrate positive attitude toward work and the workplace, and behavior that supports administrative, facility and company decisions. Create atmosphere of mutual trust, harmony, acceptance, and respect within the hospital community.  #MON/HRS  #LIN/HRS    Qualifications:  Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare management in a hospital setting.   IRF or other inpatient post-acute care setting knowledge or experience preferred.   Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing, Nursing, Physical Therapy or other related degree preferred  Need to be able to develop a marketing plan inclusive of (market based volume development, communications and public relations).  Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external points of contact; including physicians, case managers, social workers, and insurance carriers.   Ability to assume some travelling responsibilities.   Proficiency in volume management and utilization.  Must be computer literate.  Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.   Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Must maintain valid driver license.
