JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Nurse Practitioner DEPARTMENT: Psychiatry SUPERVISOR: Medical Director SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible to provide psychiatric services for assigned patients admitted to facility. This includes: Psychiatric Evaluation; Medication Management / Psychiatric Medical Assessments; continuous care; psychotherapy support and admission / discharge / transfer orders.
PSYCHIATRIC CARE PROVIDER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Responsible to the Medical Director for maintaining the quality of medical care within the treatment program. 2. Advise the Medical Director on medical problems and on questions of policy and public relations as they relate to medical practice. 3. Assist in establishing standards of psychiatric care and investigate and study new developments in psychiatric practice and techniques. 4. Assist in planning and establishing of such treatment center milieu programs as may be necessary or beneficial to patients receiving care in the treatment program. 5. Be responsible for the maintenance of medical standards of patient care to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations by participating in UR/QA committee meetings.
OTHER DUTIES: 1. Back-up the Medical Director and other Physicians when he/she is off campus. 2. Conduct conference and committee meetings as necessary. 3. Assist with in-service education for personnel and continuing education programs for the Medical Staff. 4. Participates as an active member of assigned committees. 5. Works harmoniously with other staff including those who work under his/her supervision and with which he/she has contact during the workday. 6. Participates in scheduled in-services and other appropriate training activities. 7. Utilizes supervisory feedback to improve performance. 8. Performs other duties as assigned. NON-SUPERVISORY SKILLS: 1. Able to provide excellent service to internal and external customers. 2. Ability to effectively listen, process received information and express ideas both orally and in writing. 3. Ability to initiate action, takes personal responsibility, suggest improvements and solve problems within scope of job without being asked. 4. Ability to comply with government, regulatory and facility rules. 5. Ability to record, report and maintain confidentiality of information and respond to requests for information. 6. Ability to get assigned work done in an acceptable manner, in the time allotted, with minimal prompting or reminders. QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing, with board certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, with 3-5 years experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and at least three years experience with Eating Disorders.
PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS:Ability to sit for extended periods of time.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
