My client currently seeks a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to fill an immediate opening for a full time position. These inpatient units provide longer-term and more intensive inpatient psychiatric treatment for DMH-eligible patients, and they also provide forensic evaluations of criminal defendants for the Massachusetts judicial system. All staff psychiatrists are board-certified or pursuing board certification.
In collaboration with a Psychiatrist, the Psychiatric Mid-level’s duties when working as an Attending on an Inpatient Unit are as follows:
Function as the treatment team leader with the responsibility of facilitating team development.
Provide assessment and develop a formulation and initial treatment plan for each assigned patient.
Oversee the ongoing treatment of the patient throughout their hospital stay including prescribing appropriate medications.
Collaborate with the medical clinic to provide needed medical care.
Prepare and testify in court for petitions.
Complete all required treatment documentation including assessments, ongoing notes, treatment plans, hospital course and discharge summary.
Participate in rounds and team meetings to formulate treatment plans with a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Participate in all medical staff meetings and serve on select hospital committees.
Provide coverage for peers for vacations and days off.
Provide consultation when requested.
Participate in peer review.
Qualified candidates will:
Have the appropriate discipline-specific degree with a current MA license.
Be interviewed and approved by the Facility Medical Director.
Meet credentialing requirements for the Facility.
Maintain professional liability coverage (paid for by employer)
Have demonstrated leadership abilities.
Have strong communication skills.
