Seeking a Part-Time Medical Technologist to work every other weekendSummary:
Coordinate and participate in a variety of complex technical tasks in the performance of laboratory tests to obtain data for the use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Work Performed: May perform any of all of the following duties: Coordinate and participate in the performance and interpretation of complex technical duties in support of medical laboratory testing; record determinations and results for review by laboratory management and physician/caregiver staffParticipate in specimen collection when required according to test requested, either directly by venipuncture or skin puncture; maintain responsibility for patient identification, specimen labeling and collection verification, or instructing patients or other healthcare providers in collection and preservation techniques for urine, putum, stool, scrapings, autologous/directed donations, or other specimens for analysis. Set up, evaluate and operate current and new equipment, instruments, and apparatus required for specific laboratory tests and assume adequate responsibility to maintain operations including preventive maintenance Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExperience involving patient contact, customer service in a medical setting, strong communication skills; both verbal and written Basic knowledge of medical terminology Thorough knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures and practices including standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling Minimum Qualifications: BS Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Biological Science or related field is required. Generalist certification required for General Labs. Generalist/Specialist certification required for specialist labs No experience required
