Summary:
The Nursing Home Speech Language Pathologist provides their expertise to improve any deficit in swallowing, speech, or cognition skills in patients that affect daily sequences. This position assists patients to increase their ability to communicate their needs/wants to become more functionally independent. The Speech Language Pathologist educates caregivers and staff on helping patients to maximize communicative competence in Activities of Daily Living.
Focus areas include: screening/evaluation of the patient's condition to assess and determine level of function and to customize a rehabilitation and treatment plan; provide patient care and individually designed treatment plans, timely/appropriately document patient's prognosis, treatment, goals, and response; education to stay informed on treatments and techniques to benefit the patient; establish and maintain channels of communication with nursing team and therapist.
Position Requirements:
-Master's Degree or equivalent as recognized by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) in Speech/Language Pathology
-Maintain valid state Speech Language Therapy License is required
-Superior Verbal Communication, Patient Services, Health Care Administration, Teamwork, Use of Medical Technologies, Bedside Manner, Dependability, Health Promotion and Maintenance
-Must possess intermediate computer skills
-Therapy services leadership and delegation experience
