The facility maintains a clinical partnership with UCSD's Medical School and is regarded as a premier teaching hospital for training pediatric physicians. The hospital also has an extensive research division, working with the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute, The Scripps Research Institute, the Salk Institute for Biological Studies and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in addition to UCSD. The recipient of many awards and commendations, the hospital has been ranked in all 10 pediatric specialties from 2010-2013 by US News and Report.
