Hello! We are currently recruiting for a Cert Occupational Therapy Assistant to work per diem at our rehab facility, Kindred Rehab Hospital Northeast Houston in Humble, TX! This facility includes a pool for Aquatic Therapy! The Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) assists the Occupational Therapist in the care of the adult and geriatric persons who are acutely ill and have medically complex needs, which result in mobility and activities of daily living deficits. The COTA assists the Occupational Therapist implementation of a treatment plan, monitors effectiveness of the treatment plan, and recommends needed changes. The COTA serves as a liaison between the patient and the Interdisciplinary Team. The COTA and nursing work as a team in association with the patient's attending physician, patient's Occupational Therapist, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to provide timely, safe, and cost effective therapy. These tasks are carried out according to hospital policy, hospital mission, Performance Improvement plan, and the policies and mission of Occupational Therapy Reporting Relationships Reports to Manager of Rehabilitation Services. COTA - OTA Occupational Therapy Assistant Occupational Therapy Asst Occupational Therapist Assistant Occupational Therapist Asst Inpatient Rehab IRF PRN Per Diem Humble Houston Kingwood Spring    Qualifications:  Knowledge and Ability The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant utilizes necessary occupation therapy modalities to deliver care to the young adult through geriatric patient population. The COTA demonstrates good clinical judgment and is competent in the field of Certified Occupational Therapy. Provides care under the supervision of licensed staff. Education/Experience Certification by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) in which technician is employed. Excellent communication skills necessary. Current BLS required. One year acute care experience is preferred. Physical Requirements Good general health and stress coping ability. Full mobility and ability to participate in normal activity. Demonstrates ability to speak and hear to communicate with patients, physicians, hospital personnel and the public. Near vision acuity for accurate reading and ability to inspect and analyze work. Able to lift up to thirty (30) pounds. Able to bend, stoop and stretch with minimal physical limitation.  OSHA Task Category The normal procedure involves potential exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Universal Precautions with patients should be adhered to in the unlikely event of accidental exposure with ready access to first aid.
