Kindred Healthcare is seeking a Director of Rehabilitation for the inpatient acute rehabilitation unit at Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton, OK! Summary Statement:  The incumbent shall be responsible for the total operation of the rehabilitation program. The role includes accountability for budgeting, program growth, Human resources management, expense management, program development, quality and outcome improvement and productivity management in an interdisciplinary fashion. Role model for adherence to Kindred/RehabCare policies, procedures, communication and serves as the "face" of the program at the hospital. The operations of the unit shall reflect both Kindred and Rehabcare mission and vision.  Essential Responsibilities:  Human Resource Management  1. Accountable for vacancy, turnover and recruitment and on boarding of staff.  2. Assures license and certifications are current and verified.  3. Constructively resolves staff inter and intradepartmental issues.  4. Staff Orientation is planned and conducted according to procedure.  5. Performance reviews are conducted according to policy and goals and objectives are set for each employee.  6. Team educational needs are identified and development plans implemented.  7. Assures staff is familiar with and act in accordance with Employee handbook as well as unit and hospital policies and procedures.  8. Assures yearly competencies are completed for all staff per Kindred and hospital standards.  9. Works closely with Rehabcare Student Programs to assist in recruitment and visibility of Rehabcare.  Client Relations:  1. Assures Clients for Life Philosophy is utilized including web of influence development, expectations meetings, transition lite meetings and annual/quarterly business reviews.  2. Understands and acts in accordance with the terms of existing contract.  3. Client satisfaction and perception of value added service is demonstrated in interactions with hospital staff and executive team.  4. Interaction with hospital departments, management, and medical staff is proactive and effective.  5. Participates in hospital meetings, projects, community events.  6. Regularly meets with hospital liaison (minimum monthly)  7. Completes a monthly performance report for the liaison and executive team.  8. Client satisfaction measured by yearly client satisfaction survey.  Quality  1. Ensures development and implementation of an annual quality and management plan.  2. Program meets or exceeds all regulatory requirements(Dept. of Health, Medicare ,CARF, JCAH, PPS exemption)  3. All clinical policies and protocols are adhered to assuring Medicare and insurance guidelines met.  4. KPI reports/data are used to improve quality of care delivered and meet or exceed benchmarks.  5. Assures appropriateness of equipment and supplies.  6. Action plans and recommendations developed by Clinical Performance are implemented.  7. Any deficiencies noted in surveys are responded to in an expedient manner.  8. Plans, sets goals and collaborates with Medical Director, Nurse Manager, and supervisors regarding educational needs to improve quality and outcomes.  9. Works with Denial management through RAC process.  Admission Process  1. Assure pre admission screening is performed according to policy timelines and process.  2. Referral source s are informed of admission decision per policy.  3. Coordinates insurance verification with hospital and insurer.  4. Offers alternate placement suggestions as needed.  5. Utilizes admission, denial, and discharge data to improve process.  6. Utilizes technology to assure admission process is timely and information is input correctly.  7. Assures technical and clinical compliance with the admission process.  Business Management  1. Budget is completed in a timely fashion and goals are met or exceeded.  2. Annual Business plan is developed in accordance to contractual terms.  3. Utilizes PD/CL management Guide and SMART objectives.  4. Assures ARU leadership meetings are held at least month to review business, clinical and quality results. Action plans with timelines are developed and adhered to.  5. Develops Community relations plan which includes all constituents (CL, PD, Medical Director etc).  6. Assures staff productivity meets or exceeds budgeted standards.  7. Develops plans for program development to assure growth.  8. Stays abreast of clinical and management trends and incorporates into program operations as appropriate.  9. Attends/presents at medical staff and unit in-service activities.  10. Works within hospital process to assure patient satisfaction goals are met/exceeded.     Qualifications:   Qualifications:  The incumbent shall, at a minimum be a graduate of a four year bachelor degree program in a health related, business or human services area of concentration. Preference for a clinical candidate with a degree as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist or Registered Nurse. A track record of successful management experience in an Acute Rehabilitation Unit (or like experience) coupled with strong business, interpersonal, organizational and entrepreneurial skill is necessary.
