Description
The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking an outstanding neurosurgeon-investigator to serve as an Assistant Clinical Investigator (HS) within the Surgical Neurology Branch (SNB) in the Division of Intramural Research. NINDS SNB conducts basic, translational, and clinical research, provides neurosurgical care for patients at the NIH Clinical Center, trains young investigators, and collaborates with other Intramural Branches in areas of SNB expertise. More detailed information about the NINDS Division of Intramural Research may be found at: xxxxxxxxxxx*The Assistant Clinical Investigator (HS) will have a wide range of responsibilities relating to oversight of a clinical intramural research program. The Assistant Clinical Investigator (HS) will be responsible for a mentored research effort.. Duties include development of laboratory and clinical research protocols, oversight and coordination of active trials, data analysis and evaluation, and publication of results. The successful candidate must be a US citizen and have an M.D. or D.O. degree or equivalent, board eligibility or board certification in neurosurgery, demonstrated leadership ability, and relevant training in neurosurgical clinical care and research. Candidates must have specialized expertise in the following fields:
Clinical research, including patient safety monitoring, and human research protections
Scientific communication, including analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of scientific and clinical data, preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, and presentation of research findings to internal and external audiences.
