The Hospice Nurse Educator duties include but are not limited to, provide information and education to patients and their circle of support as well as to medical professionals to maintain a hospice presence and understanding of services provided. Work in conjunction with hospital staff and provide consultations and assessments to determine the appropriateness of admission to hospice care. Serve as a consultant to hospital medical professionals and provide education concerning Hospice of the Piedmont services and make recommendations for patient needs.

The Hospice Nurse Educator position requires graduation from an accredited nursing school and a valid license as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia; two years relevant nursing experience in terminal care preferred. Ability to manage all aspects of terminal care and knowledge of hospice care. Must be emotionally mature and able to support and assist terminally ill patients and their families.
