Ascendo Resources has an immediate need for PA-c to provide ongoing locum tenens coverage at a correctional facility in Virginia.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:

Knowledge of patient care charts and histories.
Knowledge of health education theory and practice.
Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
Ability to maintain quality, safety and/or infection control standards.
Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures as set forth in facility policy.
Functional knowledge of Windows-based programs, including Outlook, Power Point and Word. Ability to learn/utilize Electronic Health Record within scope of duties.
Knowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for the deliver of medical evaluations, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise.
Knowledge or related accreditation and certification requirements.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of staff.
Education and Experience Requirements:

Current license as a Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner.
Current CPR/AED certification.
Two years of experience as an ARNP preferred.
Certification as CCHP at time of hire or within 18 months of hire.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

Work is normally performed in clinic environment.
Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
Will work with blood and blood borne pathogens and will require OSHA training and compliance.
Essential Functions:

Performs medical examinations and evaluations, diagnoses, treatment, follow-up consultation and health education.
Manages patient’s overall care in an evidence-based fashion in accordance with facilities published Clinical Guidelines and Formulary.
Works within the scope of established Collaborative Physician Agreement with his/her established supervisory physician.
Maintains and completes medical records and charts documenting all medical services rendered in a complete and timely fashion.
Obtains patient histories and develops patient care treatment plans, ensuring completeness and accuracy using the POMR format.
Supervises and/or coordinates the activities of patient care and/or support staff.
Diagnoses and treats acute and chronic conditions; collaborates regularly and as needed with physician(s) and other providers.
Prescribes medications and other treatments in accordance with Formulary and other established procedures.
Participates in planning programs and in developing specific health policies and procedures.
Practices safety, environmental and/or infection control methods.
Respond to requests from Security Staff as well as Facility Staff in accordance with Facility Guidelines. This includes following the rules and regulations for employee conduct/behavior and chain of command set forth by the command staff at all times while working within the detention/correctional facility.
Participates in the Site’s On-Call schedule as directed by the SMD and/or HSA.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

12 Hour Shift
8 Hour Shift
Day shift
Night Shift

Corrections: 1 year (Preferred)
ARNP: 2 years (Preferred)
License:

Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (Required)
Contract Length:

3 - 4 months
