Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, a David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA affiliate, in conjunction with the Department of Neurosurgery at UCLA Health, is seeking a full-time academic Neurosurgeon to join the faculty. The qualified candidate will spend the majority of their time at Harbor-UCLA, a major training site for the UCLA Neurosurgery Residency Program. The position will come with a UCLA academic appointment at the assistant, associate or full professor level, to be determined by qualifications and experience.

Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is a high-volume Level 1 trauma center, and an academic teaching hospital, affiliated with the UCLA School of Medicine. The medical center is part of the Department of Health Services at Los Angeles County, and is a major public teaching hospital that treat many underserved patients. Harbor-UCLA has its own separate Department of Surgery, with 13 divisions, including Neurosurgery. The hospital supports its own independent general surgery residency training program. UCLA Neurosurgery residents have major rotations at Harbor-UCLA. Recently modernized operating rooms constructed in 2015 are equipped with the full spectrum of state-of-the-art equipment to allow neurosurgeons to handle complex cases. Trauma and neurosurgical ICU care is provided in conjunction with critical care/intensivist services. Thus there are ample opportunities for resident education, multidisciplinary collaboration and clinical research. The hospital is also affiliated with the Lundquist Institute, a major independent research center.

Basic Qualifications: Must have an M.D. and completed an ACGME accredited Neurosurgery residency program and must be certified, in the process of, or eligible for certification by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). Additionally, successful candidates must have experience and excellence in both general cranial and spinal neurosurgery. In addition, the cross-sectional nature of the patient population cared for at Harbor-UCLA can support the full spectrum of subspecialty interests, including peripheral nerve, vascular/endovascular, functional/epilepsy, and tumor. The candidate must be interested in resident education and have a strong interest in research. Excellent communication skills and interest in working in a collaborative / team-oriented environment are a must. Candidates must have, or be eligible for, a California medical license.
