Cooper University Health Care and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University are seeking a full-time Chief and Chair for the Department of Neurosurgery. The Department of Neurosurgery is a part of the Cooper Neurological Institute, a rapidly growing and dynamic clinical team that provides the most comprehensive spectrum of neurological services to a diverse and complex patient population. The Department of Neurosurgery provides a broad array of surgical services, including acute trauma interventions, open and endovascular cerebrovascular interventions, spinal surgery, tumor surgery, and gamma knife procedures. Our team is committed to delivering high-quality patient care, community outreach, student and resident education, and clinical research. Recruitment of an innovative and collaborative leader will be essential for ongoing growth and to deepening integration with other departments to ensure a comprehensive multidisciplinary cutting-edge approach to patient care.
Applicants should be board-certified in neurosurgery. Preference will be given to those demonstrating excellence in patient care, enthusiasm for medical student and resident education, and interest in clinical or translational research. This position will include clinical and administrative obligations. Candidates are eligible for a faculty appointment at a level commensurate with their experience and accomplishments at Cooper Medical School at Rowan University.Cooper University Health Care is the leading academic tertiary health care system and only state-designated Level 1 Trauma Center in South Jersey, with clinical experts in more than 75 specialties. Cooper University Hospital is a 635-bed facility with over 7,500 employees, a network of more than 100 medical offices, and three urgent care centers throughout the region. The Department of Neurosurgery has 7 providers and continues to expand. Cooper was the first Joint Commission Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center in South Jersey, is designated as level 4 Epilepsy Center, and is a partner with MD Anderson Cancer Center.
