The Community - Sisseton, SD Sisseton is a city in Roberts County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 2,470 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Roberts County. Sisseton is home to a number of attractions, including the Nicollet Tower, and is near the "Song to the Great Spirit " building on the Sisseton Wahpeton College campus. The city is named for the Sisseton (or Sissetowan) division of the Native American Sioux. It also serves as an important part of the Lake Traverse Indian Reservation.

The Facility - Woodrow Wilson Keeble Memorial Health Care Center - Indian Health Service The Mission of the Sisseton Indian Health Service (Client)/Woodrow Wilson Keeble Memorial Health Care Center (WWKMHCC) is to provide the best possible healthcare services to the patients on the Lake Traverse Reservation In South Dakota.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic health services to eligible patients and family members. The following list is not comprehensive:- secure a health and development history from the patient or parent;
- record findings; make critical evaluations;
- person or request special screening and developmental tests;
- order laboratory tests and interpret the results;
- discriminate between normal and anconal findings;
- make decisions with physicians concerning the medical care needs of patients;
- provide direct medical care in the presence of illness or disability in order to maintain life, provide comfort, reduce distress and enhance coping ability;
- provide surveillance over medical practices applied to stabilize chronically ill persons;
- adjust treatment within established standing orders recognizing when to refer the patient to a physician or other health team members;
- work collaboratively with physicians in the management of selected complex medical problems;
- when clinically engaged with a medically complex patient present the case to the physician clinic consultant for the day for proper treatment and disposition;
- consult the clinic physician consultant or on-call hospitalist for patients assessed and deemed to require admission to the hospital;
- participate with other health professionals and agencies involved in providing health care and services required to include immunization and disease control, environmental health and health education;
- provide emergency or crisis intervention in order to stabilize a patient for transport to a higher-level facility;
- provide medical care and preventive services to healthy individuals,
- evaluate total health care needs of patients and develops plans to meet these needs;
- required information for use in program operation, quality control and other purposes (all medical record information-generated in the performance of this contract will remain the property and subject to the exclusive control of the Indian Health Service);
- participate in certain medical staff committee meetings as required;
- comply with all Client facility infection control and safety procedures, practices and standards;
- meet all applicable Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (JCAHO) and Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) standards during the performance of this contract, and must be in compliance with the Service Unit's Medical Staff Bylaws;
- be eligible for enrollment in the service unit's Medicare part B reassignment program;
- and respect the basic rights of patients, to include but not be limited to personal dignity.
REQUIREMENTS- Must hold an active, current, and unrestricted (unflagged) state nurse practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license from any of the Fifty-(50) United States or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
- Degree or diploma from a professional Nurse Practitioner program approved by the Commission on the Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
- The contractor must have a certification from either the American Association of Nurse Practitioner (AANP) or the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) and be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a master or doctorate degree.
- Must possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing or medical license in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States, throughout the term of this contract.
- Mmust have thirty-six (36) months of nurse practitioner experience, with a minimum of twelve months (12) in the specialty required by the contract, unless otherwise approved. Must have a resume that provides experience that equips the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are mandatory.
Shifts: 8 - 10 hours between the hours of 8:00am and 8:00pm M-F All include a 30 minute non-paid lunch. NP may be assigned hours weekly to bi-weekly; weekends and Federeal Holidays may be included; no on-call; rotating day and night shifts will be in writing based on the facilities need.
