Group is seeking to recruit an experienced Cardiac Surgical Physician Assistant to join the Cardiac surgery program.

Physician Assistants first assist and cover floor consults. This role is full-time with weeknight and weekend call rotation. The Heart Center is one of only three programs in the Capital Region authorized by the New York State Department of Health to perform cardiac surgery. Cardiothoracic Surgery is and Medical Group practice of experienced, board certified cardiothoracic surgeons.

POSITION DETAILS:
- First assist with all open-heart cases, no vascular, some thoracic, adult only.
- Rotating shifts, 24/7 service coverage with night shifts and weekends.
- Responsibilities include daily rounds, caring for post-operative patients in the ICU and on the floor, admitting transfers from outside facilities and the emergency department, and consultations.
- Physician Assistant must be proficient in vein harvesting, chest tube placement, central line placement, and arterial line placement.

REQUIREMENTS:      
- Applicants should have the following:
- NYS licensure
- DEA required
- ACLS/BLS
- At least 3 years of Cardiac surgical first assisting experience
- Graduation from and accredited PA program, Board Certification
- Applicants must be comfortable with placing central lines, chest
