The nation’s leading advocacy organizations for children’s healthcare, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), is seeking a Sr Manager to oversee operations and staff for assigned AAP National Pediatric Infection Prevention and Control Training Center activities, as well as, provide clinical insight into related infection prevention and control educational efforts.

Some responsibilities include:
•  Manage and lead strategic planning efforts for the National Pediatric Infection Prevention and Control Training Center management operations, functions, and programs and constituent groups, including administration, budgeting, planning, monitoring, evaluation, and program development.
•  Oversee translation of Project Firstline curriculum materials into resources for pediatricians and families in various formats from the clinical perspective. Ensure clinical accuracy and consistency of all educational resources developed through the National Pediatric Infection Prevention and Control Training Center, working with member experts as needed.
•  Lead relevant grant and cooperative agreement activities specific to infection prevention and control education and training. Provide infection prevention and control training based on Project Firstline curriculum, including at train-the-trainers events.
•  Interface with members at both the national and chapter level to explore opportunities for improved infection prevention and control in the pediatric health care setting, including areas where additional clinical or infection prevention and control guidance is needed by pediatricians or members of the medical home team.
Qualified candidates will possess:
•  Bachelors’ degree in nursing required. Master’s in public health, research, or other related discipline preferred.
•  At least five years’ related work experience in health care or public health administration required, including experience with clinical education and program evaluation/needs assessment, with an emphasis on quality improvement and/or maternal and child health.
•  Experience as a supervisor required.
•  Program management/development technical writing, and grants management preferred.
•  Experience with infection prevention and control desired.  
•  Knowledge of medical terminology required, as well as excellent organizational, verbal/writing communication, interpersonal, budget management, critical thinking, project management, and leadership skills.
•  Must be able to oversee a heavy workload including multiple programs and projects simultaneously within deadlines, work both independently and as part of a team, take initiative, effectively collaborate with various internal and external constituents, and promote and maintain a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment with a commitment to diversity.
•  Strong technical acumen essential with proficiency in MS Office and the ability to learn and apply new technologies; knowledge of web collaboration platforms (eg, SharePoint) and virtual meeting platforms (eg, WebEx, Teams) preferred.
•   Knowledge of the health care industry with an interest in programs designed to promote child health highly desirable.
•  Travel and occasional evening/weekend work required, along with the need for flexibility in arranging work schedule to accommodate physicians’ availability.
