Berlin, New Hampshire: We invite a skilled Nurse Practitioner to practice as a PAIN SPECIALIST on the medical staff of a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital in picturesque New Hampshire, near the White Mountain National Forest.

You will join a high-functioning pain management team and have a convenient weekday practice (4 days/week). In an office setting, you will see adult patients and provide services including medication management, certification for medical cannabis, education/counseling, monitoring of medication compliance including urine drug screens, and more. Members of the pain management team are collaborative, provide occasional consults to inpatients and ED patients and share phone-only call (after fully trained).

This is a newly created position in response to recognized community need. A comprehensive training program is provided. This team uses a nonjudgmental approach and embraces a whole person philosophy of care. An ideal candidate will have prior experience in broad spectrum of pain management services, though practitioners with significant experience in primary care, orthopedics, or related specialties are encouraged to apply.

Minor procedures will also be within your scope of practice, and will include such things as trigger point injections, joint injections, occipital blocks, cold ablation and Botox for headaches or chronic pain. If such procedures are new to you, members of your team will precept/train you over time.

Candidates with certification in Medication Assisted Treatment with X waiver are welcome, and those with an interest can become certified, though this is not required.

You will start this practice with extra-long patients visits to allow you to ramp up in volume over time. You will spend 3 days/week seeing patients in Berlin, and 1 day/week on site in a sister hospital in Colebrook, NH (with paid mileage).

You will earn a very competitive salary along with benefits that include a cash sign on bonus, paid relocation assistance, paid liability insurance, health, dental and vision insurance, disability and life insurance, 7 WEEKS of paid time off (combined vacation, CME, etc.), a budget for your CME expenses, and participation in a retirement plan.

Berlin is a beautiful mountainside town that attracts recreational tourists in all seasons. Enjoy scenic vistas at every turn! With a community population of about 16,000, you will appreciate clean, friendly, small-town living in a region that draws people seeking a beautiful place to live, work and play. This is a low crime area that is welcoming for people of all ages. Outdoor activities abound here, with unlimited trails for hiking or mountain biking in the White Mountains, plus fishing and hunting, kayaking and canoeing, horseback riding, golf, camping, snowmobiling and more. Several popular ski resorts are within an hour’s drive and offer cross-country or alpine skiing and snowboarding.

This is a wonderful place to raise a family: First-rate local schools earn awards for quality and the degree of parental involvement they receive. Private schools in Maine and New Hampshire offer additional options in locations that are commutable. Montessori schools operate in several towns. Housing costs here are also quite reasonable! Many physicians purchase homes with substantial amounts of land (10-100 acres) granting magnificent mountain views. New Hampshire is a financially attractive state with no sales tax and no income tax.

Berlin offers reasonable access to larger cities (2-2 ½ hours to Portland, Maine; Burlington, Vermont; and Manchester, NH). Boston and Montreal are 3-3 ½ hours away. Contact us today to learn about this exciting new position!
