Nemours is seeking a Physician Assistant - Surgery/Otolaryngology to join our team in Wilmington, DE.

Perform direct patient care services under the direction of an attending otolaryngologist and assist with the overall care of the children receiving otolaryngology services at the Nemours Children's Clinic – Delaware Valley - Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children and all clinical sites of the division.
•  Under the supervision of an attending physician, perform history and physical examinations in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Gather patient medical and other information, and make initial assessment of patient problem and patient condition in the outpatient setting prior to the attending physician visit with the patient and family. In the outpatient setting, provide succinct and concise summary to attending physician prior to their interaction with the patient and family.
•  Enter patient information and patient prescriptions into the electronic medical record as directed by the attending physician.
•  Triage and respond to phone calls from referring physician, patients and their families, allied health professionals, insurance companies, etc., regarding patient care.
•  Educate parents or legal guardians and other involved personnel on patient condition and plan of care. Provide general education and information on an ongoing basis to all personnel who are members of or work with the Division of Otolaryngology.
•  Make hospital rounds and write progress notes on patients as medically indicated.
•  Communicate with appropriate medical staff for purposes of consultation, referral and coordination of patient care and other service issues.
•  Communicate with referring physicians regarding patient progress.
•  Conduct independent clinics, under the direction of an attending physician, for post-operative and follow-up patient appointments as requested and approved.
•  Assist the surgeon in the operating room with surgical procedures as requested.
•  Perform office-based procedures under the supervision of an attending physician. This may include removal of cerumen, assisting with flexible fiberoptic layngoscopy, etc.
•  Dictate discharge summaries and letters as necessary to support patient and family.
•  Provide age- and developmentally appropriate care to infants, children and adolescents.
•  Participate in divisional, departmental and hospital programs for quality assessment and improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of Nemours.

Additional Responsibilities
•  Participate in educational conferences and meetings.
•  Participate in research and divisional projects, as assigned by Division Chief.
•  Regularly assess and evaluate clinic activity with the goal of high patient satisfaction, quality care, efficiency and effectiveness.
•  Participate in divisional, departmental and organizational staff meetings and other meetings.

•  Must possess a Master's degree and a valid Physician Assistant license.
•  Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to accept change.
