NP/PA - Cardiothoracic Surgery - Fargo, ND
Utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision making skills, works independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. Provides health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. They may care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted in age-related category and area of expertise.
Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nurse Practitioner or Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Physician Assistant program from an accredited program/institution.

Cardiothoracic Surgery

Fargo, ND

Join a practice that offers a beautiful, new OR area which includes 11 OR Suites, 1 Hybrid Room, 2 IR Suites, 2 Cath Lab Suites, 1 EP Suite and the DaVinci Robot. Our recently added third tower also houses a 24-bed Emergency Department/Level II trauma center, extensive Lab/Radiology & Nuclear Med area as well as a newly expanded Critical Care Unit.

*Previous surgical experience required, CV preferred; may consider new graduates if extensive background/experience in surgical field.

Practice in high-volume clinic & hospital setting
Follow-up appointments
Assist in OR in CT/CV/Device surgeries
Management of CCU/ICU patients; Pre- and Post-op orders, discharge planning, rounding
Collaborative practice with excellent clinic staff
10-12 patients per day
1-5 procedures per day
Work Monday-Friday plus on-call for emergent cases
Once fully staffed, rotation will be 1:4 call coverage on weekends; includes management of critical patients, weekend discharge, and surgical coverage for emergent surgeries.
Schedule rotation in clinic, OR, hospital rounds


The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is assigned to Surgical Services for the purpose of providing patient care under the supervision of the attending physician(s) in accordance with the rules, regulations, bylaws of the Medical Staff Office with the following responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting in surgery. Independently delivering clinical services to patients within the services line within the limits of their privileges. Complies with Health standards, policies and procedures, contributes to customer satisfaction, participates in quality assurance improvement, supports and participates in team approach to the delivery of patient care within the department, service line and hospital. Fiscally responsible for the level of care prescribed/delivered and the appropriate utilization of resources. Demonstrates the successful judgment and ability to service appropriate unique needs of various patient populations and age groups.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision making skills, the NP/PA works independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. NP/PAs provide health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. They may care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted in age-related category and area of expertise. Position requires high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
Previous surgical experience required, CV preferred.


LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Current licensure as a registered nurse in appropriate state (if NP).
Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in appropriate state.
Current certification in CPR
National certification, in applicable area.
Successful completion of credentialing process prior to practice.
