Summary
This position is located in the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery Military Treatment Facility where you will perform work in the field of Family Medicine. In this position you will provide comprehensive Family Medicine medical care to a broad range of patients with both common and complex medical concerns.

This announcement uses the OPM Federal Wide direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

Responsibilities
You will formulate full treatment plans based on sound evaluation and diagnoses;
You will provide multi-disciplinary comprehensive care to all patients;
You will apply new procedures in the evaluation and treatment of complex cases and conduct research;

You will promote preventative and health maintenance care, stressing positive health behaviors;
You will provide follow-up treatment and care;
You will provide advice to other physicians, non-physician providers, and other professional medical staff on the care of patients with urgent, emergent, and nonurgent medical problems;
You will serve as a technical authority on boards and committees, in conferences, and other activities involving the health care of the population served.

Education
Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual. Applicants must possess:

DEGREE: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant's graduation. If your Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree is from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States, you must have a permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), a Fifth Pathway Certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduated education in a foreign country, or successfully completed the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
LICENSING: Active, permanent, full, unrestricted physician license to practice medicine in any state, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
RESIDENCY: 4 years of residency training or equivalent experience and training in Family Medicine (e.g., 3 yrs. Residency & 1 year fellowship, experience or other training). Your resume must reflect you have a sufficient level of expertise in Family Medicine to perform the core privileges of this position.

Skills

Applicants must also be able to satisfy clinical privileges requirements which, in addition to the above, includes the following:
Completion of a residency program in the specialty approved by the American specialty board or AOA, board certification, or board eligible
Current clinical competence (e.g., privileged to independently practice as a Family Practice Physician within the past 2 years, actively practiced within the past 2 years by having encountered a sufficient number of clinical cases to represent a broad spectrum of the privileges required)
No health status contraindications to granting clinical privileges
Board certification is desired but not required
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS: This position has selective placement factors that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factors are:
Possession of Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Certification
Posession of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for Healthcare Providers Certification
