Neurosurgeon Seattle, WA (Locum Tenens) Position Overview: We have an immediate need for a full-time locum Neurosurgeon to provide Neurosurgical services for our veteran population at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System located in Seattle, WA. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in veterans’ lives while experiencing the unique beauty of Northwest.Scope of Care: Physician shall be responsible for providing care, including, but not limited to: Approximate case load: 8 patients per provider (per clinic). 3 procedures per surgical session Operative Services: Operative & Clinical Services Complex wound drainage Secondary closure of surgical wounds Application of cranial tongs Structural bone grafts (including add-on procedures) Autograft for spine surgery Spine Surgery Cervical (neck) spine fusion Additional spine fusion procedures Thoracic spine procedures (lateral transverse technique) Lumbar spine fusion, including additional segments Placement of spinal fixation devices Removal of posterior spinal instrumentation (e.g., Harrington rods) Placement of spinal prosthetic devices Removal of spinal fixation devices Cranial / CSF Procedures Placement of ventricular catheters Insertion of cerebrospinal fluid diversion devices Open cranial procedures for drainage Removal of intracranial foreign bodies Placement of subarachnoid shunts Establishment of intracranial shunts Revision or replacement of brain shunts Decompression & Disc Procedures Laminectomy (including add-on procedures) Cervical disc surgery Lumbar disc surgery Additional spinal disc procedures (add-on) Lumbar laminotomy Additional interspace decompression (cervical and lumbar) Removal of abnormal facet joints Laminectomy with vertebral body removal Additional vertebral body removal (add-on) Other Neurosurgical Procedures Excision of intraspinal lesions Laminectomy for extradural biopsy (lumbar) Revision or removal of neurostimulator receivers Repair of dural cerebrospinal fluid leaks Ulnar nerve revision at the elbow Carpal tunnel release Microsurgical procedures (add-on) Clinic Services Office/outpatient visits for established patients Office consultations Administrative services: estimated 15% of time not involved in direct patient care Administrative time is included with FTE hours Must have completed a residency in Neurosurgery must also be Board Certified /Board Eligible in accordance with American Board of Internal Medicine’s NEUROSURGERY Standards. Credentialling and onboarding takes approximately 4-6 weeks. Hours & Schedule: VA Business Hours: 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday not including evenings, weekends, and holidays Clinic or OR Schedule: 8:00am to 4:30pm Physician shall be available and present in clinic during normal clinic hours and may be revised, as deemed appropriate for patient care by the Chief of Staff.
