Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

As a Registered Nurse in our PCU, you will provide specialized nursing care to adult patients with complex medical needs, including conditions such as AFIB/RVR, DKA, HTN, COPD, ARF, post-heart catheterization, stroke units, spinal surgeries, and more. Your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes through vigilant monitoring, effective interventions, and compassionate support.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care RN experience
- Proficiency in cardiac and pulmonary patient management
- Ability to perform titratable medication administration (e.g., Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, Levophed) with manager approval if necessary
- Experience with chest tube management, tracheostomies, peritoneal dialysis, lumbar drains, and CSF monitoring (preferred)
- Successful completion of EKG competency exam prior to orientation
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications
- Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience working on stroke, med-surg, or telemetry units
- Knowledge of EMR systems, specifically Meditech Expanse
- Familiarity with IV pumps (Alaris), Pyxis medication dispensing
- Ability to support units with float coverage and cross-training
Preferred Education and Experience:
- RN licensure in good standing
- At least 2 years of bedside RN experience in acute care settings, particularly in cardiology, stroke, or medical-surgical units
- Prior travel nursing experience is advantageous but not mandatory for qualified first-time travelers with the required experience
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to work a 4-3-3-4 schedule, including nights and weekends on a rotating basis
- Ability to work holidays as scheduled (approximately 2 out of 3 holidays)
- Scrub color: Pewter; authorized shirt colors: gray, white, or black with WK monogram
- Full-time availability with flexibility for scheduled time off requests (up to 7 days) and mandatory scheduling rotations
- Must wear badges above waist at all times and adhere to dress code

Hourly Pay Rate: $50.25
