Description JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Hospitalist • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Lafayette, LA • Service Setting: Inpatient • Coverage Type: Clinical Only • Coverage Period: 03/01/2026 – Ongoing • Clinical Shift Schedule: Day rounding shifts, 7:00a – 7:00p COVERAGE DATES • Start date: March 1, 2026 • Ongoing coverage needed PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: Adults • Patient Volume/Census: Average daily census of approximately 220 patients • Admissions: Managed by hospitalist service as assigned • Rounding: Included • Phone Consults: As required • Case Mix: General internal medicine inpatient cases FACILITY INFORMATION • Office Equipment Available: Standard inpatient hospital resources • Specialty Backup Available: Full specialty support available • Support Staff Available: 11 daytime hospitalist rounders, 1 nocturnist, 2 daytime NP/PA rounders, 1 NP/PA nocturnist • Reason for Coverage: Supplemental coverage PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes • Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 90 days COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Not specified JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Active Louisiana medical license required • Board: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine through ABMS; Board Eligible within 5 years • DEA: Active DEA with Louisiana address required • Certifications: BLS and ACLS required • Experience: Residency trained in Internal Medicine • Other Qualifications: CME and case logs from past 2 years required; complete credentialing documentation required; H-1B and J-1 visa candidates accepted DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide comprehensive inpatient medical care to hospitalized adult patients • Perform daily rounding and coordinate patient care plans • Collaborate with NP/PA staff and specialty consultants • Manage admissions, discharges, and ongoing inpatient treatment • Document patient encounters accurately and timely • Participate in a team-based hospitalist coverage model * Some information such as the email and phone number are hidden unless you are registered and logged-in
