Description JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Colon & Rectal Surgeon • Job Type: Permanent – Full-Time • Location: Munster, IN • Service Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient • Schedule: Monday – Friday; shared call rotation (1:4) • On-Call Expectations: Rotational 1:4 schedule including General Surgery call • Start Date: Upon completion of credentialing (approximately 90–120 days post-offer) PATIENT POPULATION & SCOPE • Patient Demographics: Adult and geriatric populations requiring colorectal and general surgical care • Average Daily Volume / Census: Varies by surgical block and clinic schedule • Admissions & Rounding: Included • Consults & Follow-Ups: Yes • Case Mix/Clinical Focus Areas: Colorectal procedures, general surgical cases, screening and diagnostic colonoscopies, and minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgery FACILITY & TEAM DETAILS • Beds in Department/Unit: Integrated within a full-service surgical department • EMR System: Epic • Specialty Backup: 24/7 Anesthesia, GI, Oncology, and Critical Care support • Support Staff: Dedicated nurse practitioners and clinical team support across inpatient and outpatient settings • Leadership & Reporting Structure: Reports to the Chief of Surgery / Medical Director • Reason for Opening: Growth and service line expansion within the Community Healthcare System CREDENTIALING & COMPLIANCE • Board Requirements: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Colon and Rectal Surgery • DEA & Certifications: Active DEA; BLS and ACLS required • Credentialing Timeline: 90–120 days COMPENSATION & PERMANENT BENEFITS • Base Salary: Highly competitive; negotiable within MGMA guidelines • Incentive Bonus Structure: RVU-based productivity model with additional performance incentives • Relocation Assistance: Available and negotiable • CME Allowance: Comprehensive annual CME funds provided • PTO & Holidays: Flexible paid time off structure • Health & Retirement Benefits: • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance plans • 403(b) retirement plan with employer match • Life and Disability coverage • Malpractice insurance (system-supported) REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS • Board Status: BC/BE in Colon and Rectal Surgery • State License Required: Indiana medical license or eligibility to obtain • Certifications: DEA, BLS, ACLS • Experience: Prior inpatient and outpatient surgical experience preferred; proficiency in robotic-assisted surgery required • Additional Requirements: Strong interpersonal skills, commitment to quality care, and ability to work within a collaborative surgical team DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide full-spectrum colorectal and general surgical care, including robotic-assisted and minimally invasive procedures • Perform inpatient rounding, outpatient consultations, and follow-up visits • Participate in General Surgery call rotation (1:4) • Utilize Epic EMR for all clinical documentation and care coordination • Collaborate with nurse practitioners, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams • Participate in clinical quality and performance improvement initiatives • Contribute to the growth and leadership of the surgical program within Community Healthcare System COMMUNITY & LOCATION HIGHLIGHTS • About the Area: Munster, Indiana is located just 30 minutes southeast of downtown Chicago, offering a balance of suburban living and access to metropolitan amenities. • Local Attractions: Proximity to Lake Michigan beaches, community parks, cultural centers, and an active arts scene. • School System: Highly rated public and private school options available throughout Northwest Indiana. • Housing: Affordable housing with a range of suburban and family-friendly neighborhoods. • Demographic & Professional Profile: Appeals to professionals seeking work-life balance and access to a growing healthcare community. • Nearby Cities: 30 minutes from Chicago, 20 minutes from Valparaiso, and 15 minutes from Hammond • Nearest Airport: Chicago Midway International Airport • Distance from Airport: Approximately 35 miles – 40 minutes by car * Some information such as the email and phone number are hidden unless you are registered and logged-in
