Description
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Physician with Hospital Medicine experience for an urgent locum tenens opportunity in North Carolina. This is a solo provider role in a rural, critical access hospital offering a low-volume ED and broad scope of practice.Highlights: ASAP start, 2–6 month assignment, ~10 shifts/month, 12-hour day/night shifts. Active NC license required.
Skills
Minimum 3+ years of Emergency Medicine experience required
Prior Hospital Medicine experience required (admissions, rounding, discharges)
Experience working in a rural and/or critical access hospital setting preferred
Prior solo provider experience strongly preferred
Comfortable managing a broad scope of EM cases independently
Notes
This is a solo provider role—candidates must be comfortable practicing independently
Position includes a mix of Emergency Medicine and Hospital Medicine coverage
Temporary privileges available for qualified candidates
Facility offers 24/7 radiology, lab, and respiratory support
Cross-credentialing with a nearby facility required
Ideal for providers seeking a rural setting with autonomy and low volume
