Overview:
A hospital-based opportunity is available for an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide coverage in a cardiac surgery ICU and step-down unit. This role focuses on managing critically ill patients in a non-operative setting within a collaborative critical care environment.

$180/hr

Assignment Details:
Start: June 1, 2026
End: October 2, 2026

Schedule:
Monday – Friday
Day/Evening shifts
Minimum 40 hours per week, with flexibility up to 50 hours as needed

Practice Details:
Setting: Inpatient ICU and Step-Down Unit
EMR: Epic
Patient Population: Adult
Autonomy: Yes, with supervising and critical care physicians available
Non-operative role (no OR responsibilities required)

Patient Volume:
Up to 10 patient notes per day
Additional responsibility for phone coverage of all inpatients

Responsibilities:
Manage ICU and step-down patients
Provide inpatient rounding and care coordination
Perform bedside procedures
Collaborate with critical care and cardiology teams

Procedures:
Central line placement
Arterial line placement
Chest tube placement and removal
Wound vac changes

Preferred Experience:
Cardiac critical care experience
ICU/critical care background
Inpatient medicine with cardiology focus

Requirements:
NCCPA Certified (PA) or appropriate NP certification – Required
Active New York License – Required
ACLS – Required
ICU experience – Required (no new graduates)
Epic experience – Required

Credentialing:
Estimated timeframe: ~6 weeks
