A healthcare facility in Rockford, Illinois is seeking a locum Pathologist for vacation coverage with potential for ongoing dates.

Compensation:

24h Call $1800, call back $250/hr, night call $500, night call back $250/hr. Regular hourly rate $260/hr

Coverage Type: Scheduled coverage with call responsibilities
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
No overtime expected
Some assignments include night call and 24-hour coverage responsibilities

December 29, 2025 – January 2, 2026
Clinical Responsibilities
Sign-out of pathology cases
Grossing surgical specimens
Peripheral blood smear review and interpretation
Blood bank issue management and transfusion reaction review
Cellular adequacy checks for FNA and CT-guided biopsies
Clinician communication and pathology consultation support
Night call coverage for urgent pathology cases
Support Staff
Two histotechs assisting with:
Small biopsy grossing
Slide preparation
Special stains
Practice Environment
EMR: Epic
Full privileges available
Telephone call coverage
Requirements
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pathology
Active Illinois license required at time of submission
Minimum 1 year of experience required
Strong experience in:
Grossing
Cytology
General pathology case review
Ability to work independently and efficiently manage caseloads
Excellent communication skills
Additional Information
Candidate will work solo
On-call responsibilities required
Estimated credentialing timeframe: 60 days
