Job Responsibilities:
•  Administers proper medication and treatment, monitor medication doses and individual responses
•  Makes rounds to ascertain the needs of the Sisters and make sure the needs are being met
•  Supervises the Nursing Assistants to ensure quality nursing care is being rendered
•  Report to the Director of Nursing any changes in the Sisters’ baseline, including behavior, complaints, physical symptoms, skin alterations, response to medication or treatment, etc.
•  Notifies the Director of Nursing of any emergencies
•  Reviews physician’s orders, notes and implements any medication and treatment changes accordingly
•  In the absence of the medical scheduler, makes and changes appointments with physicians and therapists
•  Participates in person-centered care and ensures the quality of nursing care
•  Collects, tracks, and maintains Sisters’ medical charts as appropriate; records any new dates
•  Communicates regularly with the Convent pharmacy to ensure all Sisters receive their medications as ordered
•  Performs additional duties as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities:
•  The LPN supervises the care given by the nursing assistants on duty

Skills

Qualifications:
•  Valid New York State LPN License
•  Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in a long-term care or geriatric setting
