A comprehensive multi-services organization in New York is currently seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join one of their growing facilities in Westchester County.



About the Opportunity:




      
  • Setting: Article 16 Clinic
      
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
      
  • Hours: 9am to 5pm or 8am to 4pm 
      
  • Patient Population: Adults (Ages 18+)
      
  • EMR: PrecisionCare


Responsibilities:


The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will:


      
  • Review medical records and verify MD’s orders and the Occupational Therapist’s assessment prior to implementing OT treatment
      
  • Communicate with supervisor regarding persons receiving services in the areas of cognitive/perceptual skills, sensor-motor, musculoskeletal status, etc.
      
  • Confer with Physician and other Healthcare Practitioners to obtain additional information on persons receiving services
      
  • Write specific, objective, and measurable documentation, which is outcome oriented and details the persons receiving service’s needs, potential to benefit from treatment, and progress achieved to date
      
  • Provide training to persons receiving services, families and/or direct care staff in specific supportive programs
      
  • Participate and attend care plan/team meetings as needed for persons receiving OT services
      
  • Implement a treatment plan, including ROM, therapeutic exercise, cognitive/perceptual re-training, ADL, wheelchair mobility, pre-vocational skills, and application of physical agent modalities
      
  • Handle other duties, as needed


Qualifications:




      
  • Bachelor's Degree
      
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant school
      
  • NYS Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license
      
  • Knowledge in the use of mobility devices and therapeutic exercises
      
  • Microsoft Office proficient
      
  • Great interpersonal skills
      
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
      
  • Strong attention to detail
      
  • Highly organized

Desired Skills:


      
  • Experience with wheelchair assessment
      
  • Experience working with people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
