Pediatric Surgeon Locum Tenens Opportunity in Virginia

Job Details:

• Full-Time Coverage:
  
  
  
  • Clinic hours Monday to Friday (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
  
  
  
  


• Night Call Coverage:
  
  
  
  • Monday to Friday (8 p.m. - 8 a.m.)
  
  
  
  


• Weekend Call Coverage:
  
  
  
  • 24-hour coverage on Saturdays and Sundays
  
  
  
  


• Rounding Responsibilities:
  
  
  
  • Provide care for patients admitted during the week
  
  
  • Weekend surgical consults as needed
  
  
  
  


• Consults from the Emergency Department (ED):
  
  
  
  • Approximately 0-2 calls per day
  
  
  
  


• Emergency Surgeries:
  
  
  
  • The hospital encounters around 8-10 emergent surgeries per year
  
  
  • Note: It is not a trauma hospital
  
  
  
  


• Response Time:
  
  
  
  • 15-minute maximum call-back time for emergency consults
  
  
  • 30-minute maximum response time
  
  
  
  


• Patient Load:
  
  
  
  • 0-4 patients per day per provider
  
  
  
  

Duties Include:

• Collaborating with other pediatric providers to diagnose and determine if surgery is necessary


• Managing and performing preoperative, operative, and postoperative care


• Utilizing office support staff during the day for triaging calls, including prescription refills


• Handling after-hours calls, primarily from the Pediatric Emergency Department

Submission Requirements:

• Board Certified Pediatric Surgeon - REQUIRED; no exceptions


• VA State License & DEA - REQUIRED at the time of submission


• COVID Vaccination - Highly Preferred


• Flu Vaccine - REQUIRED at the time of credentialing

Certification Requirements:

• Basic Life Support (BLS)


• Board Certified


• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

State License Requirements:

• Virginia

Additional License Requirements:

• Board certified in pediatric surgery


• VA License


• VA DEA
