Scotty’s House is seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) Counselor to provide trauma-focused, evidence-based mental health services to children and adolescents who are victims of abuse, neglect, or other traumatic experiences, as well as their non-offending family members, with the goal of promoting healing and long-term well-being. Counselors may be asked to provide crisis intervention and safety planning for clients in acute distress. They are frequently called on to educate and support non-offending caregivers on trauma, child development, and coping strategies. Clinical Supervision provided

Skills

Education: Master’s degree in social work, counseling or related field.

Experience: Two (2) to three (3) years providing clinical services to children and families with a preferred concentration in child sexual abuse and/or intimate partner violence.

Required Certifications: Licensure in the State of Texas to practice as a mental health provider in one of the following areas:
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A);
Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW);
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFT-A).

Notes

Continuing Education: Attends and participates in Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas (CACTX) required training for mental health professionals. Provided ongoing training, including conferences, in the field subject matter. Completes evidence-based training focused on providing trauma treatment to children, adolescents, and their families. Completes all compliance training required by Scotty’s House.
