Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) – Boston, MA


Join our team for weekend-focused coverage with a predictable 3x12-hour shift schedule and options to extend beyond an initial 3-month assignment. Hourly pay is $159.46/hour with a weekly pay schedule via direct deposit. Start is set for 08/04/2026 (with a credentialing timeline that requires you to begin applications immediately).

What You’ll Do

  • Provide inpatient pediatric pain service coverage, including post-surgical pain management

  • Assess and manage patients with pain conditions such as cancer pain and sickle cell, among others

  • Support care for critically ill children and those weaning from sedatives

  • Manage patients using PCAs and epidurals in the inpatient setting

  • Work closely with the attending MD, and provide coverage with APRN support on the service

  • Use EPIC for documentation and coordination of care within the inpatient workflow

  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, including knowing when to call for help and clear, empathic communication


What You Need

Required


  • Board certification: Pediatrics NP or Pediatric Acute Care NP

  • MA state license

  • PALS certification

  • DEA required

  • 2+ years of experience

  • Experience with pain and strong assessment skills

  • Ability to complete credentialing/privileging promptly (minimum 60 days); must be ready to begin applications immediately for a quick turnaround



Preferred


  • Prior inpatient experience in pediatrics and/or pain service exposure

  • Comfort caring for medically complex patients (including critically ill and those on PCA/epidural therapy)


About the Assignment

This role provides inpatient support for a pediatric pain service. The team cares for children after surgery who require pain management, including patients with complex needs such as critical illness and medication weaning, and those receiving therapy through PCAs and epidurals. You will work within an established inpatient environment supported by attending and APRN team members, using EPIC for documentation.
