Emergency Medicine physician coverage in a community hospital emergency department

Annual ED volume: about 24,000

Patients per day: about 65

EMS percentage: about 18 percent

Admission rate: about 10 percent

Emergency department beds: 15 plus 2 fast track beds

Coverage model: average 25.86 physician hours per day and 11.29 NP or PA hours per day

EMR: Epic

Required Qualifications

MD or DO

Emergency Medicine residency trained

Board certified Emergency Medicine (ABEM)

Active Texas medical license in hand

Texas DEA in hand with Texas address

Credentialing

Privileging timeframe: 90 plus days

Temporary privileges may be available with a clean file

Onboarding

Orientation and EMR training

Flu vaccination required. Waiver may be available.
