Pathologist Locums Job in Kentucky

Job Requirements for assignment #116473:
*Ongoing Vacation Coverage
*Kentucky State Medical license required to apply (IMLC certificate must be active at time of present)
*Board Certified
*Monday through Friday, typically 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
*Weeknight Call is required and includes anatomic call, clinical call, and blood bank call; very few calls after hours
*No weekend call
*1 pathologists’ assistant (PA) and 1 high complexity grosser.
*There will be transcriptionists available to type your reports. They are off-site. The TAT is usually 2 hours or less (usually less).
*There are no cytotechs.
*The PA and high complexity grosser will gross all specimens
*No performing of or reading bone marrows.
*There are rare rapid onsite evaluations for radiology or pulmonology. Slides come to pathology for staining/interpretation.
*The PA will gross the specimen and will cut the actual frozen section; average 1-2 frozens/week.

Number of cases: The case load is around 60-70 cases per day (50-60 surgical, 5-10 non-gyn cytology). Cases are shared between the on-site pathologist and the remote pathology team as needed. The practice volume is approximately 16,000 cases annually and is currently supported by three pathologists.

Types of cases: GI biopsies, GYN biopsies, skin biopsies, bladder biopsies, laryngeal biopsies, breast biopsies, lung biopsies, appendix, tonsils, gallbladders, hernias, mastectomies, colon resections, hysterectomies (usually benign), amputations, placentas, peripheral blood smear reviews, thyroids, nephrectomies, orchiectomies, prostatectomies, lung resections, rarely brain
biopsies

Types of cytology: only non-GYN cytology (pleural fluids, bronchial washings, BALs, urines, ascites fluid, EBUS specimens, FNAs)
