Standard Qualifications:   Park Plaza & Plaza Specialty Hospitals - Houston, TX   Supv - Clinical Coordinator (RN) - Critical Care MICU - FT w/rotation  Located adjacent to the Texas Medical Center, Park Plaza and Plaza Specialty Hospitals offer the convenience of a community hospital with two distinct purposes. Since 1975, Park Plaza Hospital has been offering complete medical services, including surgery as well as outpatient, imaging and rehabilitation. Plaza Specialty Hospital, a hospital within a hospital, has been providing long-term acute care to those needing prolonged hospitalization and recovery since 1994.  Park Plaza/Plaza Specialty Hospital is currently looking for Supv - Clinical Coordinator (RN) - Critical Care MICU -FT w/rotation   Responsibilities:  Serves as Clinical Coordinator Resource to patients and health care team members and provides leadership in day-to-day clinical operations management, including 24-hour accountability for staffing, as directed. Utilizes appropriate resources to assure departmental needs are met.  Accepts accountability for successful department operations and sees logic and methods to solve varied and complex problems.  Assumes responsibility for doing the right and just thing in all situations.  Develops and maintains Performance Improvement initiatives specific to department and works with Director to trend data and recommend changes.  Performs safety rounds weekly and reports to Quality.  Assists in coordinating and conducting education related to new equipment or procedures.  Contribution to performance appraisals, corrective actions, promoting and discharge of staff is given in collaboration with Director  Establishes clear objectives and goals for work team.  Verbal and written communication is timely, clear, concise and provides all necessary information.  Makes proper assignment of personnel and manages staffing schedules effectively and efficiently.  Monitors and compares expenses to budget on a regular basis.  Able to work independently with a minimum of direction, support or approval and maintain motivation.  Applies the nursing process to a group of patients.  Evaluates outcomes of patient care, consults with other disciplines as required and adjusts the plan of care as necessary to ensure optimal service.  Consults other departments as appropriate to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient's needs.  Communicates appropriately and effectively to Nursing Director, coworkers, physicians, patients and family members  Needs of physician are anticipated and appropriate action taken.  Assists in providing new staff with individualized orientation plans and provides updates to Director.  Assists in coordinating departmental orientation process.  Assists with management of unit scheduling and appropriate staffing guidelines.  Assists in staffing when required.  Monitors productivity of unit staffing with Director. Flexes staff to meet unit census.  Assist Director with unit charge reconciliation and supply utilization.  Mentors staff nurses who aspire to advance in their practice.  Recommends resources for continuing education of staff.  Attends most employee forums and other hospital mandatory meetings
