POSITION SUMMARY: The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner is responsible for providing services in a manner that demonstrates respect for the patient's dignity and meet the needs of the sexual assault victim by providing immediate, compassionate and comprehensive evaluation. The SANE has the responsibility to provide victims with complete information about choices so victims can make informed decision about the care they want to receive. As a specially trained sexual assault nurse examiner, one will be responsible for completing the entire sexual assault evidentiary exam, after obtaining a signed consent from the victim. Other responsibilities include: assessment and documentation of injuries, prophylactic care for STD's, pregnancy risk evaluation and interception, collection of forensic evidence, crisis intervention and referrals for additional support and care.
